on thursday there was a totally awesome snowstorm in boston that made headlines around the country due to the mother of all traffic jams. if you were a kid, you probably didn't care because you probably weren't driving. and if you were lucky you got a little sledding in. we had nearly a foot of dry fluffy pow. in those conditions you use the inner tube-based sled shown here:
BUT, when the snow is all packed in, as it is in Rick and Lenny's driveway (kind of like a luge track), then you use the hard plastic saucer. if you get a good push on the luge track you can achieve true Calvin and Hobbes sledding glee. click to enlarge and feel the sledding love:
when you are done it is customary to let out a primal scream of rejoicing:

after you are done, apply liberal quantities of hot chocolate:
